General Information

The Newfoundland and Labrador Dental Hygiene Association (NLDHA) aims to provide for the professional and fellowship needs of dental hygienists in Newfoundland & Labrador. We are here to advance the awareness of the profession and contribute to the health of the population of the province.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Council of Health Professionals (NLCHP) regulates dental hygienists (and several other health professionals) to protect the public by ensuring safe, competent and ethical practice. The NLCHP deals with everything regarding registration and carries out audits to ensure the correct number of CE/PD points have been achieved.

The Newfoundland and Labrador College of Dental Hygienists (NLCDH) is mandated by the provincial government, under The Health Professionals Act, to carry out its activities and govern its members in a manner that serves and protects the public interest. In protecting the public, the College ensures that dental hygienists are educated to perform safe and appropriate dental hygiene services and that they follow the practice standards set by the college.

If you are a new NLDHA member please send an email to info@nldha.com to be added to our email list. The email list is the easiest way to stay up to date with job opportunities, volunteer opportunities, events, CE/PD opportunities, etc. You can also request to become a member of the closed Facebook group called "NL Dental Hygienist Association" and follow the NLDHA on both Facebook and Instagram.

In order to be a member of the NLDHA you must also be a member of the CDHA. Annual membership fees for the NLDHA are collected by the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association (CDHA). When you become a NLDHA member you are actively supporting the growth and professional recognition of the dental hygiene profession. It is an investment in your future.
